Based in New York City, Feit is a minimalist footwear and accessory company founded ten years ago by Australian brothers Tull & Josh Price. Their focus lies solely in producing handmade goods with minimal environmental impact and maximum quality. Each limited edition item is hand sewn by a master craftsman, with a single pair of shoes taking three to four weeks to manufacture from start to finish. ‘Construction leads design’ - their aesthetic is influenced to great effect by the materials chosen and techniques used by their team of expert makers.
Feit (pronounced ‘fight’) was named equivocally as a protest against the homogenised, mass-market shoe industry that has dominated globally for the past forty years. In Tull’s words, “The name Feit came about as I had grown dissatisfied with my first business and the industry. It had become about sales volume and quarterly profits and no longer about creating a quality product. Feit was established and operates purely to build great products without compromise.”
Living up to those assurances, all leather is sourced from the finest Italian tanneries and dyed with vegetable matter such as tree bark, wood, leaves and roots. It remains neutral in any temperature and doesn’t retain sweat or odor. No harmful chemicals are used in the production process.
The Tull brothers experience working with Rag & Bone and previously running cult shoe brand Royal Elastics has set them in good stead: ten years since the foundation of Feit, the brand has reinforced their minimal, environmentally conscious ethos with their finest collection to date.
