The D-Series is a mechanical watch with a Swiss automatic movement. The first thing you will need to do is set the time and date, then wind it up. These are very simple tasks, demonstrated in the video below.
When winding up your watch, you will notice the second hand starts to move slowly around the dial, then increases in speed until it is sweeping freely. Please be gentle when turning the crown - aggressive winding can damage the gears. Alternatively, any circular movement of the casing will cause the rotor to wind your watch automatically.
Please do not change the date when the hands are between ten o'clock and two o'clock, as this can effect the mechanism.
The D-Series is designed to fit a number of different straps, as long as they are 18mm in width. These include leather and rubber straps, NATO style fabric straps, and a metal Oyster bracelet that we have designed specifically for the watch. All are attached using traditional 'screw-pins', however these are used in slightly different ways.
For instructions on how to attach or remove a leather or rubber strap, a NATO strap, or a metal bracelet (including the removal of links) please watch the related videos on this page.
All Instrmnt watches come with a 2 year warranty valid from date of purchase when bought directly from our web/physical store or one of our official stockists. This covers any mechanical fault or manufacturing issue that occurs during normal usage.
Your warranty does not cover daily wear and tear, water damage, battery replacements, damage or aesthetic changes to the strap, loss or theft.
Once you have returned your watch to us we will inspect and look to diagnose the problem. If it cannot be fixed, a replacement will be issued immediately.
To make a warranty claim please register the fault here.
Mechanical watches should be serviced every three to five years. Please contact us for advice on finding a reputable specialist. The D-Series' movement is a Swiss-made Sellita SW220. It is a high quality, reliable mechanism that most experienced jewellers will have worked with before.
